On Nov 11, 2013 BM3 Travis Obendorf was fatally injured during US Coast Guard operations in the Bering Sea. This site is complimentary to the book “Troubled Waters,” to ensure the events that took the life of a dedicated Coastie, son, and friend are not forgotten. This site specifically directs users to download a free .pdf copy of the book “Troubled Waters: The Legacy of USCG Hero BM3 Travis Obendorf.”  You may also purchase the eBook and hard copy on Amazon – all proceeds will be collected by the mother of BM3 Obendorf and disbursed to a nonprofit organization to help active duty and Coast Guard Veterans (we are working to find a specific nonprofit).

BM3 Obendorf

Obie lost his life due to a combination of factors. The Coast Guard’s version of the story is not complete…  Obie is a hero. He was loved. He is missed. His story should be spread… The book Troubled Waters reviews USCG documents, eye witness testimony, communications from shipmates; and communications between the USCG, the show Deadliest Catch, and the fishing boat that was safely anchored.

Our goal is to spread his story as much as possible.

View or Download “Troubled Waters” as a .pdf file.

Please read and pass on! This is a free copy.
